With thanks to Alex van den Heever and Nicola Theron for the invitation, I was glad to be discussant for a panel on the topic of managed competition in healthcare at this year’s IHEA Conference in Cape Town. The experts and the countries/sub-topics that they were discussing were:

Josefa Henriquez — conceptual framework

Alex van den Heever — South Africa application

Chiara Berardi — Australia application

Carolina Velasco — Chile application

Each of their papers may be looked up or they can be provided by the authors on request.

A recording from the conference organizers is also available on request.

Below are my slides for the discussion, with thanks to Marcella Villagomez (visiting us from Yale) for helping me to prepare them.
